grsec is still mainly included because of the network-features, other proc-restrictions are deactivated because of X and some other apps.
with the crypto-patches applied, it's possible to use a crypto-filesystem through the loopback-interface - this is an important feature, especially on a notebook (this cryptoloop implementation has some weaknesses - should replace it with something better when doing the next upgrades).
